10th Anniversary of Impact Summit Europe: A New Decade of Impact Ambition

Partner

Impact Summit Europe is proud to celebrate its 10th anniversary, gathering the global impact investing community to engage in pivotal discussions on current and forthcoming challenges and opportunities in the impact investing space. Scheduled for March 26-27 at the historic Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam, this milestone event promises to ignite new ambitions for the next decade of impact.

Over the past decade, the impact investing market has experienced remarkable growth, evolving from responsible to thematic investing and reaching maturity in the Netherlands and other Western European countries. However, despite this progress, more institutional capital is crucial to realising the Sustainable Development Goals. The key to shaping a more sustainable and equitable future lies in the hands of institutional asset owners, working in collaboration with investors, companies, and governments.

We are thrilled to announce that Ndileka Mandela, Founder & CEO of the Thembekile Mandela Foundation, will be a keynote speaker at the 10th anniversary of Impact Summit Europe. With a profound background in healthcare and a commitment to humanitarianism, Ndileka exemplifies dedication in all her endeavours. As the grandchild of Nelson Mandela, her extensive humanitarian work continues her grandfather’s legacy.

In her keynote speech titled “Equal Footing: Addressing Climate Apartheid,” Ndileka Mandela will underscore the importance of collective action in combating climate apartheid, emphasising sustainable practices, climate justice, and equitable solutions. Climate apartheid, characterised by the disproportionate impact of climate change on vulnerable communities, leads to profound social and economic disparities.

Drawing on over 15 years of experience in the medical field, Ndileka leads the Thembekile Mandela Foundation, focusing on health, education, and youth development in South Africa’s rural villages. Her recent participation in a panel at COP28, titled “Strategies in Climate Financing; Empowering Sustainable Development in Africa,” showcased her advocacy for ending climate apartheid.

“Join me in embodying the philosophy of ‘I am because we are’,” says Ndileka. “Let’s unite to address poverty, squalor, gender-based violence, climate apartheid, and inequalities. Together, we can make a difference in our communities and create a more just and equitable world. Take action with me today.”

Additionally, Roger Havenith, Deputy CEO of the European Investment Fund (EIF), will deliver a keynote speech on integrating impact investing across organisations. He will shed light on how the EIF operates as a cornerstone impact investor, navigating environmental challenges and information asymmetry. Havenith will advocate for more institutional catalytic capital and the implementation of impact hurdles.
