ING: Lending to ‘green’ projects on the rise

ING is using its lending expertise role to ‘nudge’ the economy in a more sustainable direction and move sustainable lending into the mainstream of banking. The Sustainable Lending Team, established in 2012, is driving this shift. “Many banks see sustainability as something they do in response to pressure from NGOs or to mitigate harm”, says Leonie Schreve, global head of Sustainable Lending. “We want to change the focus and show how sustainability can be a tool for the financial sector to make a positive impact.”
